Working for one of the world’s largest, privately- owned aerospace and defence companies, Our client is now looking for a contract Mechanical Design Engineer.

An exciting opportunity for an experienced, innovative and enthusiastic engineer to complement the existing Advanced Composites team.
This is a short term role supporting the work undertaken at Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, while the majority of the role can be completed remotely, there may be a few occasions where travel to site is required, please be assured government restrictions regarding COVID will be strictly adhered too onsite.
Working collaboratively with the existing engineering team your specialist knowledge, technical expertise and theoretical understanding together with your innovative approach will be fundamental in the ability to meet their customer requirements and allow them to create bespoke solutions to their needs, while achieving the business requirements in terms of cost, timescales and manufacturability
The post holder will:-
•Take a pragmatic approach to problem solving, which will involve developing new concepts or techniques in the composite marine environment
The main tasks will be:-
•To design composite products for marine application using CATIA v5
•To communicate effectively with internal and external parties to encourage an integrated and collaborative approach.
•To work to agreed budgets, timescales and parameters.
•Degree level education in Engineering subject or equivalent is preferred, however we would welcome candidates who can demonstrate a background in the design of fibre-reinforced composite structures.
Technical Competencies and experience:
•Experienced designer using CATIA v5
•Experienced in using a product lifecycle management system
•Experienced in geometric tolerancing
•Experienced in designing marine composite products using dry fibre and resin infusion
•Experienced in composite tool design and manufacture
•Experienced in designing for manufacture and preparation of process plans
•Confidence to present solutions internally and externally at design reviews
