Our customer is seeking to appoint an experienced Calibration Technician, to join their operation based in Oman.

Job Description:

The Calibration Centre is accredited to the international standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and national standards ANSI Z540-1:1994 and ANSI Z540.3:2006. The Calibration Centre is responsible for the management of all TMDE within the Royal Air Force of Oman.
The Calibration Centre is currently seeking a mid-level motivated Calibration Technician to contribute in a team environment operating laboratory equipment and administrating process.

Role: Assist the Calibration Centre by performing test and measuring equipment calibration on various types and provide analytical support.
Experience: Calibration experience in various fields of metrology, enjoy working with hands on, detailed in nature and don’t mind working independently.
Job Objective: To perform the calibration and maintenance of test equipment in the assigned area (including minor repair and adjustment as required). Maintain computerized and written work records, item registry and contribute to RAFO Calibration Centre’s maintenance program.

To check the physical condition of equipment received for calibration.
To hasten the calibration of minor test equipment that can be performed at the RAFO station.
To ensure that the procedure is available and valid at the time of calibration.
To ensure that the equipment for calibration is prepared as defined by the calibration procedure.
To ensure that the standards used are correct as required by the calibration procedure.
To ensure that all required information related to calibration activity is adequately available and relevant calibration results.
To ensure that the standards used to calibrate is valid.
To handle breakdown maintenance of the equipment, as soon as possible.
To ensure that the proper records are maintained at all stages of calibration and ensuring validity of test results.
To monitor the environment condition regularly and record the same periodically during the calibration activities are carried-out.
Familiar and well-oriented with Fluke MET/TEAM data base.
Ensure all TMDE, mechanical and electrical equipment is registered in the Fluke MET/TEAM data base as well as hard copies.
Maintain and review the TME register on a monthly basis.
To identify items are due for service/calibration. Where the item is identified as due, ensure a timely dispatch.
Maintain a record of all movements of TME.

Work for 20 weeks followed by 3 week break, then
17 weeks at work, cycle then repeats

Skills and Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience in the field of calibration in various test parameters.
• Associates degree in an electronic/scientific/metrology discipline or equivalent
• Familiarity with ISO 17025:2017, ISO 9001:2015 and traceability of standards and test equipment.
• The ability to work and communicate well with a diversified scientific staff and respond promptly and efficiently to their needs.
• The ability to maintain a positive, productive and flexible work attitude with a willingness to adjust schedule as required.
• Ability to move objects ranging in weight up to 20 kg per day.
• Ability to work in areas with limited space.
• Ability to climb ladders occasionally.
• Ability to work in a clean room environment.
• Ability to stand and/or sit for several hours at a time.
• Ability to bend multiple times per day.
• Ability to use hands for repetitive motions throughout shift.
• Ability to move in and out of environments from 20 °C – 50 °C occasionally.
• Ability to use computer and telephone equipment.
